is the 14th town in France in size with 180
000 inhabitants in a greater urban district of 540 000 inhabitants. Just 60 km
away, Lyon is within easy reach while Paris is only at 2h40 by TGV. The
Rhône-Alpes area has all the advantages of a great European region thanks to
its economic dynamism and the potential it offers for higher education,
culture and tourism. Rhône-Alpes is, next to the Paris region, the 2nd pole of

- The
urban area is particularly well equipped as far as culture is concerned:
theatres, operas, museums (Museum of Modern Art : 2nd French collection for Modern Art after Pompidou Museum), media activities centre, etc.

in the conurbation's festive and cultural events program include the 9th Biennale Internationale Design Saint-Etienne from the 12th of March
to the 12th of April 2015 (around 200,000
visitors, 760 designers and 100 countries).

The main train
station in Saint-Étienne is "Chateaucreux Station".
The closer train station to the Hubert Curien Laboratory is "Carnot station" (but
Chateaucreux is nearly as easy with the new tram).

: Take the tram line number 5 direction "Terrasse" until stop
"Chaléassière"
(Timetable).
- From Carnot station to the H. Curien Lab :
Take the tram line number 5 direction "Terrasse" or line number 4
direction
"Hopital Nord" until stop "Chaléassière" (Timetable).
- It is also possible to come by foot
(about 20 min) : take Bergson street (where the tram line is) and after
400m take Barrouin street on your right. Look at the map.
By Plane
Main Airport: Lyon
St-Exupéry airport (25 km East of Lyon or 70
km of St-Etienne).
Train connection to come to St-Étienne from Lyon St-Exupéry
airport: Take the RhôneExpress Tram (one every 15mns) from the airport to Lyon Part-Dieu
SNCF Train Station, next from there take a train (one every 30 mns) for Saint-Étienne (See TER-SNCF).
